Restaurants

Barcelona is rumoured to have in excess of 16,000 eating establishments. Now whilst this may be an exaggeration, it could very well be true as you will note when you walk the streets of Barcelona, as there are back to back eateries, offering a multitude of cuisines from Michelin Star Restaurants to traditional Catalan pizzas.

Just a quick word of warning though: in general, the closer you are to popular tourist haunts like Las Ramblas and attractions like Placa Reial, the higher the price and often the poorer quality the food and service.

Obviously we are not gastronomic experts, but we know what we like.

Below is a short list of just a few of our favourites:

MILK

Carrer Gignàs, 21
A great place for breakfast or brunch. On the weekends you will have to wait for a table, but it is well worth it, as they provide consistently good wholesome food.

SENSI GOURMET TAPAS

Carrer de Milans, 4
Also on Carrer Gignàs, this is relatively new albeit owned and run by well-established restauranteurs, we like this one the best. Make certain you try the Oxtail Mini.

MOMO

Carrer d’Avinyó, 39
We recommend you try the black squid ink paella. Euskal Etxea, located at Placeta de Montcada, 1. It is worth dropping in for their burgers that are served with a healthy slab of foie gras on top.

TAPEO

Carrer de Montcada, 29
Another great tapas bar, with good food, excellent service and a cosy fun ambiance.

EL NACIONAL

Passeig de Gràcia, 24 Bis
A gastronomy multi choice venue with lots of eating and drinking options in an amazing old metal building.

L'ANTIC BOCOI DEL GÒTIC

Baixada de Viladecols, 3
This is classic Catalan food and you must try the tomato bread, cheese fondue and their signature Catalan pizza.

POP-UP BEACH RESTAURANTS

There are dozens of these on the beach during the summer months. There is nothing better than sitting drinking a cool ale with friends watching the passing crowds and the sea roll in.
