Places to visit
In this section we have just combined a few of our favourite locations where we take friends and family visiting us in Barcelona. Obviously there are literally thousands of guide books that will have you visiting sites that we don’t even know exist, but we just like these ones:
LA SAGRADA FAMILIA
Carrer de Mallorca, 401
This is obviously a must see. Antoni Gaudi’s renowned unfinished church started in the 1880s, with museum and city views.
GAUDI’S PARK GUELL
Carrer d’Olot, s/n
It is a collection of mosaic-covered buildings, steps & sculptures in verdant park with Gaudi museum and panoramic views back over the city.
BOQUERIA MARKET
Les Rambles, 91
On Las Ramblas this is probably the most photographed market in the world. It is a great way to really experience the atmosphere and old world charm of Barcelona.
CASA BATLLÓ
Passeig de Gràcia, 43
This is well worth a visit to the fantastical, curving dragon-roofed apartment block, now a museum, created by architect Antoni Gaudí.
EL BORN CENTRE CULTURAL
Plaça Comercial, 12
The old Born market has reopened as a cultural centre. Inside the iron and glass structure built by Josep Fontserè in 1876 you can visit the first market in town constructed in the fashion of the architecture of Paris. This is fascinating as it has preserved the archaeological remains from 1700 of the district of Vilanova de Mar and it offers a glimpse of how life in the city was before and after the siege of 1713-1714.
